History

The History page reads a namespace's record step by step as one of your keys, finds a moment by CSN or time, and is where a copy is started.

What this page is for#

Every change to a namespace is a step in its record, numbered by a CSN (change sequence number). The History page (/history) lists those steps for one namespace, as one of your keys: when each happened, who made it, and the declaration it applied. It is also the finder for a moment in the record. From any step you can read the namespace as it stood then in the Explorer or, as an administrator, make a copy of it.

Who can see it#

Every signed-in user who holds a key that some active namespace grants. The steps shown are pruned by the service to what the chosen key may see under its history right: steps and lines the key may not see are left out without a marker. A key with read but not history sees an empty record. The copy actions are for administrators.

What is on the page#

The finder#

The form at the top has Namespace and Key (see the namespace and key pickers) and four more fields:

Field What it takes
From A CSN, or a time such as 2026-09-20T16:30:00Z. Empty means the start of the record.
To A CSN or a time. Empty means the newest step.
At A CSN or a time. The page shows the steps around that point and marks it.
Page How many steps to show: 50, 100 or 500.

Each time field has a calendar button for choosing a date and time. Press Read to load the steps. Use either From and To or At, not both. A time in From means the first step at or after it, and a time in To the last step at or before it. Below the form, the chips Last hour, 24 h, 7 d, 30 d and All set common ranges. The page notes that "From, To and At are your browser's local time when you pick them; the table's times are UTC."

When At is a time, the page says which CSN it resolved to, for example "2026-09-20T16:30:00Z is csn 4096 · the steps around it".

The wiring line#

A line names the namespace, the key and the path the reads go through, with the caption "The portal attaches the key on the far side of that path. Entries the key may not see are absent, not marked." The browser never holds the key.

The verification badge#

A badge above the table reports whether the steps read check out against the namespace's tamper-evident chain:

Badge Meaning
ok Every step in the range links correctly to the one before it.
unchained Some steps in the range could not be checked against the chain, for example steps recorded without a chain value. Nothing was found wrong.
violation At least one step does not match the chain. A key that sees the whole namespace is also told the CSN of the first mismatch.

Beside it, the page states the range shown. Older and Newer move to the previous and next page of steps.

The step table#

The table has one row per step, newest first:

Column What it shows
CSN The step's number
When (UTC) When it was committed
Who The key id that made it
As The portal user it was made on behalf of, when it was made through the portal
Agent The Terse-Agent label the client sent, if any
Correlation The correlation label the client sent, if any
Op The kind of operation
Size The size of the declaration shown

Click CSN, When (UTC), Who, As, Op or Size to sort by that column; click again to reverse. Open a row to see the step's declaration in full. The declaration is the step's diff: it is exactly the TERSL that changed the namespace at that step, pruned to what the key may see.

The table needs JavaScript. Without it, the finder works and the page says so.

Actions#

Read a range#

Choose a namespace and key, fill From and To (or press a range chip), and press Read. Page through with Older and Newer.

Find a moment#

Type a CSN or a time in At and press Read. The page shows the steps around that point with its row marked. Each row offers:

  • Query at this step, which opens the Explorer at that CSN with the same key, read-only.
  • Copy from this step (administrators), which opens the copy form at that CSN.

Start a copy#

Copy from this step opens a flyout titled Copy at… with the form described on the Copy page, filled in with the namespace, key and CSN. The Copy at… action on a namespace card opens the same flyout at the newest CSN. Submitting it starts the copy and shows its progress in the flyout.

Export the steps as CSV#

Export CSV downloads the steps the current filter names, every step and not only the current page, sorted as shown, up to the number of steps the button's caption states. The columns are csn, when, who, as, agent, correlation, op and size.
